Using iMidi

Trem On/Off

This example will show you how to use iMIDI to allow MidiTzer to use Program Changes to toggle the trem on and off while holding notes.

  • in the lower right Loader Pane window, find the Concert Flute instrument and right click it.
  • select “iMIDI.Rule Manager”
  • select “Rule Builder” (1)
  • click “Add” (2)
  • click “edit” (3)

From the Rule builder control panel

  • select “Program Change” for “Incoming Event” (1a)
  • set Data Byte1 to min=0 max=49 (2a)
  • set Data Byte2 to min=0 max=0 (3a)
  • select “Controller Change” for “Filtered MIDI” (4a)
  • set Controller min=1 max=1 (5a)
  • set Controller Value min=127 max=127 (6a)
  • click “Add New Filter” 7(a)
  • select “Program Change” for “Incoming Event”
  • set Data Byte1 to min=50 max=99
  • set Data Byte2 to min=0 max=0
  • select “Controller Change” for “Filtered MIDI”
  • set Controller min=1 max=1
  • set Controller Value min=0 max=0
  • click “Add New Filter”
  • Click “Ok”

Before exiting you might want to save the newly defined rule as a template. A template will allow you to assign the rule to another rank by simply double-clicking the template name(6). To save a template:

  • Name the rule you've just created. (4) You can also type a small description in the "description field"
  • Click "Save as template" (5)
  • Click "Ok" to exit

Go to MidiTzer‘s settings screen and select the “Output” tab.  Change Tremolo Method” to “Program Change”.  Play the Flute (alone) and verify the trem toggles on and off while holding the notes.  Repeat these steps for each of the pipe ranks.
