Setting up GSO

If you carefully read and follow these instructions, you should be able to install and enjoy the MidiTzer/GSO VTPO very quickly and easily.  If you get into a bind, reread and try again.  Never re-install your OS, audio card or GSO unless you are advised by an expert to do so.   See "PC and Audio System Recommendations".

Start GSO. Press the “F2” key to bring up GSO’s “GigaStudio Settings”.  Click the “General” tab.  In the “Visual Preference” section, check “Lower user interface refresh rate (high polyphony mode).

In the “Start-up and Recovery” section, check “Load last performance on start-up”.

In the “Reset Options” section, check all.

Click the “Performance/Instrument Loading” tab.  In the “General Midi Support” section under “GM Library Folder” click “…”.  Navigate to “C:\TPO Ranks”, then click “OK”.

At the bottom of the window, click “OK”.

Press the “F3” key to bring up GSO’s System Settings.  Click the “Synthesizer” tab.  Set max polyphony (spinner control) as follows:

Pentium 4 Class PC:   256
Core 2 Duo, 1.6 GHz:   400
Core 2 Duo, 2.0 GHz    512
Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz and above 720

Move the polyphony slider all the way to the right.  (Note: these are conservative settings.  Advanced users may be able to gain further performance by following the tips in Tuning tips for XP.

Under “Synthesizer Engine” Settings, set “Master Attenuation” to –6 db.

Click the “Mixer / Disk Engine” tab.  Set the number of Mixer Inputs to 54 and the number of Mixer Groups to 10.

Click the “Hardware” tab.  Check all available “Output Channels” (1 through 10 for the 1010LT).  Set “MIDI In” to “<none>” for all ports.

GSO will automatically install the GigaPulse files to a second hard drive if one exists.  If this is the case, the files from "D:\Tascam\GPulse\Common" must be copied manually to C:\Tascam\GPulse\Common".  Click the "GigaPulse/Convoultion" tab.  In the "Directory" window, Click the "Add" button and navigate to "C:\Tascam\GPulse\Common" and click OK.  Make sure that the C: version is checked.

Click “Apply” then “Ok”.

Click the green “Reset” button in the upper right corner after making sure that all the options are checked (by clicking the little arrow to the left of the button).
