Swapping Ranks

PC System

In general, The supplied MidiTzer-GSO project files assume that the samples (GIG files) are stored in "C:\TPO Ranks".   Modern single drive systems seem to perform quite well.  However, if you prefer to use a second hard drive as Tascam recommends for the GIG files, use the following procedure:

To use drive D:

  • copy ALL gig files to D:\TPO Ranks (after having created the folder)
  • in GSO, activate MIDI Mixer section
  • make sure Loader Pane is displayed
  • click "TPO Ranks" folder for drive D:
  • press F5 to refresh Quicksound database
  • on "GS3 Port 1" tab, start with Concert Flute on Channel 1
  • right-click Concert Flute in the rightmost window of the Loader Pane
  • choose "Unload Selected"
  • the Concert Flute will disappear from Channel 1
  • drag the Concert Flute from D:\TPO Ranks (middle section of Loader Pane) into the empty slot on channel one
  • repeat for all each rank down to Piano on Channel 11 of GS3 Port 2
  • Save new config in a new gsp file (File / Save As) with a new name.

Pay attention to the stereo vs. mono versions of the ranks and choose whichever is desired.

Your second HD may or may not be mapped to D: (which is why the project files assume that the samples are on C:).  Just substitute the appropriate drive letter, eg., "K:" instead of "D:".

You can use the above methods for substituting different ranks, for example the new Wurli2 Solo Tibia in place of the original Solo Tibia.
